Hello, I
generally go by Pastor Larry with my
congregations, and I am part of a clergy couple.
My wife, Rev. Terry Sue Wiliford, serves the
West Webster and Union Hill United Methodist Churches in the Genesee
Valley
District. Because
of the distance
between West Barre and the Webster area, along with her
responsibilities as a
Pastor, Terry will be residing primarily in the parsonage in Union Hill
and
will be involved in the West Barre and Elba UM Churches in a very
limited
way. The same is
true with my
involvement in her two churches.
We both grew up in Michigan, I in the
Detroit area and Terry in the Battle Creek area.
We were married in 1971, after meeting and
working together as House Parents at a Home for Emotionally Disturbed
Boys and
Girls in Kalamazoo, Michigan. We
have
three sons and three daughter-in-laws, along with three grandchildren
with a
fourth on the way. Our
sons and their
families live in Traverse City, Michigan; Toronto, Canada; and
Fredericksbug,
VA. I am a graduate
of Adrian College in
Michigan with a B.A. in History and Philosophy and a graduate of the
Methodist
Theological School in Ohio with a Masters of Divinity.
I was ordained an Elder in the United
Methodist Church in 1977 and have served churches in Ohio (as a student
pastor), Michigan, Wisconsin,
New York,
and Kansas for 24 years. I
have also
served as the Director of Camping & Retreat Ministries for the
North
Central New York Conference, Director of Camping Ministries/Director of
Camp
Chippewa for the Kansas East Conference, Director of Camping &
Retreat
Ministries/Director of Camp Asbury for the Western New York Conference;
and
Director of Camp Asbury for the Upper New York Conference over a 14
year period.
It is my belief that that as Christians we
are called to be in mission and ministry not only to the people who are
a part
of our church congregation, but also to the community and area in which
we
live. I also
believe that when we do
this effectively we will make disciples for Christ.
I am looking forward to being in ministry
alongside of you as we live out our Christian faith as disciples of
Jesus
Christ our Lord.
